Summer clerk
Our summer clerk programme gives senior students the opportunity to experience our business, by rotating through two different teams for six weeks each. You will have a wide variety of work, ranging from researching and writing legal advice, to drafting contracts and court documents.
You will also be interacting with clients – attending meetings and client functions held during the summer. What's more, you'll be learning from the best – all summer clerks share an office with a partner or senior associate, so you can see how the leading lawyers in their field operate. And to make sure your summer goes smoothly, a solicitor will act as your buddy for each rotation – they will answer all your questions and generally look out for you.
Law clerk
Our law clerk programme offers final year students permanent positions within the firm. This programme equips junior solicitors with the skills and experience needed to launch a successful legal career.
As a law clerk, the first year is focused on discovering where your individual strengths and interests lie, so we offer a flexible rotation system. We encourage you to rotate in two practice areas to gain different legal skills and exposure to other areas of the law. You will be given an appropriate level of work, and as much autonomy as you can reasonably handle while ensuring that you have the necessary support to develop your legal career.
Combine this on-the-job experience with the Professional Legal Studies course, internal training and seminars, and regular feedback on how you are doing, and your first year with Buddle Findlay becomes invaluable.
