We offer salaries that match our standing as a major national law firm. But because we know that salary is not the only reward, we provide a range of additional benefits.

Social and community

We work hard, but also know how important the world outside work is.

We believe it is important to give back to the community. Each year we sponsor the Buddle Findlay Negotiation Competition so students at law schools around the country can develop and test their negotiating skills.

We also annually award the Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellowship, which gives an outstanding published New Zealand writer the chance to write full time in residence for a year. Previous winners of the Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellowship include Emily Perkins, Toa Fraser and Steve Braunias.

We established the Buddle Findlay Child Health Foundation which supports the children receiving residential medical care in New Zealand. Our partners and staff support the foundation through grants and donations, and visits to the children's wards at hospitals in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

We enjoy working and socialising with each other. We offer a wide range of fully subsidised social events run by a staff social committee in each office. Some examples are:

  • A range of sporting events – including netball, soccer and business games
  • Office-wide drinks every Friday night
  • An annual weekend ski trip
  • Christmas and mid-year functions
  • Organised fun runs and walks
